Mother Azhagammal by A.R. Natarajan

As one contemplates on the life of the universal mother Azhagammal, one finds how deeply it is intertwined with that of Bhagavan Ramana. One finds many unique and rare gems. There is no parallel of a mother accepting her son as sadguru and gradually surrendering to him so wholly as to become food unto that force. This is seen clearly in her years of discipleship of Ramana from 1916 to 1922. Ramana shifted from Skandasramam compelled by “the same force, which brought him to Arunachala.” Ramana had left home “in search of his father and in obedience to his command.” The command was from Arunachala, the Hill of knowledge, which had clothed him with “its power and its supreme state of steady self abidance to proclaim its glory”. Mother too is the same, the transforming power of Arunachala.
